No other gospel

In the absence of Paul, the church of Corinth welcomed other preachers and believed in their teachings. Because of this, Paul wrote to them, “For is someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you received a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from th one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.”

Remember that there is no other gospel of Jesus Christ than the one we see in the Bible. There will not be, in the future also. Jesus will not die again (Rom 6:9). Therefore, if we are listening or hearing any other teaching other than the ones we find in the Bible, know that they are false teachings, and we must be careful.

Paul wrote to the Galatians, “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel – not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed” (Gal. 1:6-9). Note the repetition of the same thing in verses 8 and 9.

Let us also be aware of many spurious teachings and preachers who preach something else. Let us also remember that such teachings have already been there during the earliest times, and that they have been strongly refuted by the Bible itself. Jude wrote about such people as “hidden reefs… waterless clouds, swept along by winds… fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted, wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame, wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever” (Jude 12-13). They are scoffers (cf Jude;2 Pet. 3:3).

As such, let us pray in the Spirit, waiting upon the Lord Jesus Christ and living in the love of God. Let us guard that we have received, the old old story that remains the same today, remembering that there is nothing else so that “we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes” (Eph. 4:14).
