“I am not ashamed of the gospel”

Romans 1:16

The Apostle Paul was a learned man, a Roman citizen, a Pharisee, a Hebrew of the Hebrews. If he had continued his course, he would have been someone important among the Jews. But since he met the Lord Jesus Christ, he became a changed man, leaving everything else behind. He wandered, travelled and journeyed to different places planting the church. He became hated and rejected in many places. He suffered lashings and imprisonments very frequently. We also know how he died.

Why did he suffer all these? Because he knew who he was following. He knew the power of the gospel.

What about us today? How do we know the gospel? Aren’t we ashamed to show our faith even among friends? Paul never did. He went everywhere and professed it.

The reason is: We are often ashamed because we do not understand him well enough. We grumble because we haven’t done enough and understand enough the power of the gospel.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Rom. 1:16)
