Peace! Be still!

Mk. 4:35-41

Jesus and His disciples were going to get to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. While they were crossing, a great windstorm came and the waves broke into the boat they were in. The disciples were afraid and thought that they were going to ‘perish.’

In times of difficulties, we tend to think, “this is the end for me,” or “I will surely perish.” As human beings, we become afraid. Jesus and His disciples were also rocked by the wind on the sea. They were not spared of difficulties either. Jesus was there; but the wind still came and the disciples were horrified.

But, Jesus was there and when He was called upon, He commanded the wind and the sea, “Peace! Be still!” and they calmed down.

Who are we with today in our lives? As we are grappling with this global pandemic, remember that God is still in control. We may have difficulties (just as the disciples did), but the most important thing is knowing who we are riding our boats with. Jesus has the power over everything. Let Him dwell in us, guide us, teach us and strengthen us through our difficulties.
