Our Protection

Man is always on the lookout to defend himself. He creates innumerable weapons to defend himself with weapons that can fire, shoot, explode, and sometimes even think to an extent. We have expanded our reach into the skies above, reaching the moon, and into Mars and even to the outer reaches of the solar system. During the 1980s, when the USA and USSR fought a ‘Cold War’, the USA started the ‘Star Wars’ program, also known as the the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) under Ronald Reagan’s presidency. Additionally, the nuclear weapons that we have today roughly amounts to 20,000 warheads. If they were to explode at once in one location, the blast itself would create a crater about 10km wide. Radiation and dust from the explosion would also kill more than half the world’s population. China, India, USA, DPR Korea have the largest standing armies today as well.

But, the Bible tells us, “A king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength” (Ps. 33:16).

How true it is!

The more weapons we have, the more insecure we have become. Not only this, all the weapons that we have today are useless against the smallest of disease. Specifically, our great weapons are useless against the virus pandemic of 2019. The disease continues to spread like wildfire, and we are unable to stop it. For most of us, all we can do is to stay home, wash our hands, avoid gatherings and read the news. Where are our great weapons?

How small and miniscule are our greatness! How insignificant are we before God! He created the heavens and the earth. He knows everything, and by everything, we mean EVERYTHING. He has command over all diseases and viruses. And even then, who are we to say, “where is God?”

The Bible tells us again, the Lord “is our help and shield” (Ps. 33:20). This is ONLY for all those who fear Him. Therefore, “some take pride in chariots, and some in horses, but our pride is in the name of the Lord our God” (Ps. 20:7). Let us trust in Him, because he has power over everything.

“Steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the Lord” (Ps. 32:10).
