The LORD judges
1 Cor. 4:4
The Apostle Paul was a great man. He could say, “I am not aware of anything against myself.”
How do we see ourselves? We may think that we present a perfect front for others, but, knowing ourselves, we may hide things that we are too ashamed of.
Even if we do not see anything against ourselves, this will not acquit us. We may be perfect in all things in this world. But this will not make us innocent before God.
Why?
Because the LORD is our judge. God does not measure like man does.
As we say this, do we mean to say that anything good we do makes no difference? No. Ephesians 2:10 tells us, “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Anyway, “How can we who died to sin still live in it?” (Rom. 6:2)
Therefore, let us remember that our salvation is not by works (Eph. 2:8-9), but by our faith in Jesus Christ alone.
