Laughter

Gen. 21

The name Isaac means ‘he laughs’ or ‘laughter.’ When the Lord promised that a son would be born to Abraham, Sarah could not believe it and laughed. But when Abraham turned 100, Sarah conceived and gave birth to Isaac. She was so elated and said, “God has brought laughter for me”(Gen. 21:6).

Now, we are also waiting for the eternal promise of God. Right now, it might sound unbelievable to many of us that we might be inclined to laugh. But we must remember that God is never slow to fulfil his promise (2 Pet. 3:9). When God delivers, in his time, we will then laugh with joy.

Meanwhile, all we can do is trust in Him and His promises.

Now, we might be laughed at and looked down upon. But some day, our mouths will be filled with laughter (cf Ps. 126:2).

Stand firm. Wait upon the Lord. He will deliver. He will soon deliver.
