Isaac blesses Jacob

Gen. 27

Esau was a hunter while Jacob was a quiet man, living in tents (Gen. 25:27). Even though Esau was older, the heir, he had sold his birthright to Jacob (Gen. 25:33). Time went by, and Isaac their father as getting old. He could not see any more. As Isaac was about to bless Esau, Jacob pretended to be Esau and received blessing from his father (Gen. 27). His father Isaac had said, “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau” (Gen. 27:22).

Likewise, we, who are sinners, have been blessed, being clothed in Jesus Christ our Lord.

In the words of Rev. HP Runremthang,

Though my voice be of Jacob,

I am clothed in Esau’s garment;

Being clothed in the garment of Jesus Christ the heir,

I do not deserve it LORD.
