Retrospection

Jos. 7:1-5; Heb. 12:15

The Israelites surrounded Jericho and took it ‘easily’ enough. That was made possible because they obeyed God. But Achan’s greed sobered them up as they could not take Ai, a smaller city. Worried, they called upon the Lord who told them of the necessity to remove the sin from among them.

Times of war, sufferings and troubles are times of reformation and restoration. At times like these, we must always look into ourselves, our hearts, our society, our family and our church to see if there’s any wickedness. We are not insinuating that the present crisis is out fault, but we are just saying that we need to take advantage of the situation and look into our selves.

Like David, let us cry out, “create in me a clean heart O God” (Ps. 51:10).
