Planted in the house of the Lord

“The righteous flourish… and grow… They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. In old age they still produce fruit; they are always green and full of sap.”

Psalm 92:12-14

Trees planted in the wrong places are weak and are unable to flourish. Even if they did grow, they tend to stand in the way of people and other things. Such trees are often cut down before they bear any fruit. Likewise, men who are in the wrong places tend to be a nuisance everywhere and cannot flourish.

But trees in the right places flourish and grow and continuously bear fruit. Men who are also in the right places flourish and are always a blessing to those around them.

Where would that ‘right place’ be? The right place for man is in ‘the house of the LORD’ and the good tree is the tree planted there.

Where are we today?

If we are not in the house of the Lord, we will be like the tree planted in the wrong place, a nuisance for others, likely to be cut down early. Many people are like this.

If we are at the right place, then we would be like the tree that flourishes, that remains green. Even in old age, such people produce fruit for others and continue to be the source of inspiration and encouragement for many.

Where are you planted?
