Cain and Abel

Cain was a worker of the ground and Abel was a keep of sheep. Both of them brought their produce to the LORD. Abel brought the firstborn and of their fat portions. And so, the LORD had regard for Abel and his offerings while He had no regard for Cain and his offerings.

Because of this, Cain was very angry. The the LORD told him, “If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.” (Gen. 4:7). Knowing all this, Cain murdered his brother Abel all the same.

Let us look at the following points:

  1. Because God is our provider, we must always bring out our best to Him. He not only provided us with everything we need, He also gave us His only begotten Son. We must be ready to give to Him our time, our hearts, our everything.
  2. When God did not regard Cain and his offering, he became angry instead of trying to correct his mistakes. As human beings, we might also make mistakes. When we make mistakes, let us not be angry, but correct our ways and bow in humility to the will of God, remembering that sin is always waiting to pounce on us (Gen. 4:7; 1 Pet. 5:8).
  3. Cain, instead of being happy for his brother, became full of jealousy and anger. There are some people who never appreciate others and their successes.
  4. God told Cain to rule over sin. Yes, let us overcome evil with good (Rom. 12:21).
