Strengthening ourselves in the LORD

The Amalekites raided and burned Ziklag in David’s absence and took everyone away with them. When David and his men learned of it, they were bereaved. They wept until they had no more strength to weep. So distressed they were, the people even spoke of stoning David.

“But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God” (1 Sam. 30:6).

The natural course of action for others would have been firstly to gather their armies and seek ways to rescue their families. But David looked upon the LORD first of all. This was his strength and victory.

Are we also in dire situations? Are we weak and weary of everything life is throwing at us?

Like David, let us also strengthen ourselves in the LORD by putting our trust in Him. By putting his trust in the LORD, David managed not only to rescue his families and his people, but also defeat the Amalekites as well.

Likewise, if we strengthen ourselves in the LORD, the LORD will help us in our needs too.
