We cannot rule in place of God

Job was suffering. All he had had been destroyed – his family, his riches and wealth. He was also afflicted. His friends and his wife were constantly pestering him, blaming him for his sufferings. Then, Job lamented about his pain and suffering and defending his innocence. But when God spoke to him, he could not answer. All he could do was to ask God for forgiveness.

God said to Job, “Gird up your loins like a man, I will question you, and you shall declare to me. Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? “ (Job. 38:3-4). God also spoke of many other things (read Job 38-40).

As I look at the youth of today, they have become so insolent. They say, “It’s my life”. They act as if they own the world, or are capable of ruling over the world. We grumble at God. Well, some even doubt His existence. How pathetic this generation has become! How insolent!

Where were we when God laid the foundations of the earth? Let us ponder upon this question today so that we may understand who we are and how great God is. Let us understand the impossibility of us ever replacing God. Most importantly, let us understand the need to lay low before Him, and accept His greatness.
