The LORD surrounds His people

Psalm 125:2

Psalm 125:2 says, “As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people, from this time on and forevermore.”

Just as the mountains around Jerusalem serve as the defence of the city, the LORD always surrounds His people. Let us look at this from two perspectives:

  1.  Firstly, in our saddest moments, the LORD is with us. He is not a God who is far away (cf. Jer. 23:23). He knows our sufferings, He knows hoe being tempted feels, and He can help us (Heb. 2:18). He protects and leads us with or without our knowledge (Ps. 3:5).
  2. Secondly, just as He sees us at our saddest moments, he also sees us when we commit sin against Him. He is not a God who is far away (Jer. 23:23). He is there when we think of committing sin. He is there when we commit the sin. He sees us always (Prov. 15:3). We might not commit sin when others see us. Why do we commit sins when we know the LORD sees our every move?
