Redeeming the time

Eph. 5:15-16; Col. 4:5

Since the days are evil, we are exhorted to redeem the time. Redeeming the time means to buy back or take back. Since time is a gift from God, we do not know how much time we have. As such, we must redeem the time we have every day, spending it wisely.

It is quite imperative that we redeem the time today. Jesus said, “We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work” (Jn. 9:4). In our present circumstances, we must spend time with Him who gives us the time itself, praying to him, strengthening ourselves in Himself, and meditating upon His words. The time we are passing through is not a ‘good’ time, but ‘evil’. In fact, these are evil times, when godlessness, callousness and all the other ‘nesses’ combine together to undermine our faith in Him who holds time together.

We must perseverantly trust in Him and re-dedicate our lives to the Lord in these changing times.
