Jonah’s Repentance

Jonah 3:1-4

Jonah had attempted to run away from God, but ended up inside a fish. When the fish vomited him out, the word of the LORD came to him once more. Now, Jonah did not attempt to run away anymore. Instead, he “obeyed the word of the LORD and went to Nineveh” (Jon. 3:3).

We see true repentance in the life of Jonah. Just a couple of days ago, we talked about repentance. Repentance is to have contrition and to turn away from sin and live in humility and holiness according to God’s mercies and guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is also a change in perception towards sin and to move away from it.

In this life, there is no more space for disobedience. It is now a lofe of being aligned with God against sin.

Are you also somehow running away from God? Are you delaying or trying to justify yourself for not doing what the LORD commands of you? We know it is impossible to run away from God; and we also know that we must do His will because salvation belongs to Him.

It is not too late yet. Jonah also ran away, but because he repented, he was forgiven and did the works of God in a wonderful way.
