Get up and pray
Lk. 22:46
Jesus prayed on the Mount of Olives and was deeply anguished. But when He got up and went to His disciples, he found them sleeping and told them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not come into temptation” (Lk. 22:46).
We tend to fall asleep when we feel comfortable or when we are too tired. For the Christian, it happens when we become prosperous temporally or blessed spiritually. It is hard to fall asleep on a bumpy road, while it is easy to become slack when the sailing is smooth. If we do, on both occasions, they are equally dangerous.
It is in this particular time that Christians need to stay awake so that we may not fall into temptation. We have seen the example of Eutychus who fell asleep just a couple of days back.
Jesus telling His disciples to get up and pray must be remembered today in both situations – in good times and bad so that we may not fall into temptations.
