Full Satisfaction

Ecclesiastes 5:10 says, “Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income.” Indeed, even the richest people of the world are never heard saying, “It’s enough.” We are not criticising. It’s just human nature to demand more.

But the person who has Jesus is satisfied. Having Jesus gives us perfect satisfaction. His salvation is complete and will last forever. He tells the Samaritan woman (and us too), “whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (Jn. 4:14).

He also says, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty” (Jn. 6:35). The Psalmist also wrote, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand” (Ps. 16:11).

On the other hand, earthly riches do not satisfy. Even those who say, “I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing” simply do not realise that they are “wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked” (Rev. 3:17).
