Elijah hid himself

1 Ki. 17:1-7

Elijah went to king Ahab to speak of the word of God – that the land will neither see rain nor dew. Just as Elijah said, the was no rain and there was a serious drought which led to famine. Then, the LORD told his servant Elijah to “hide yourself by the brook Cherith” (17:3). Just as the LORD commanded, Elijah went to ‘hide.’

There are times when we need to ‘hide.’ In such a time, we need to meditate on the word of the LORD and to grow in Him. Elijah did not went on a picnic to Cherith. He went there to witness and understand the saving works of God. Let us also meditate on God’s word in our own Cheriths too.

Since Elijah did what God commanded, God sent the raven to feed his servant there (17:4-6). God changed the natural propensity of ravens to become life-savers!

God can do everything. He can use even the ravens, events and sufferings for His people and His glory.

Trust in Him, and obey Him.
