Recognising Jesus

“Their eyes were kept from recognizing him.”

Luke 24:16

The two disciples would have recognised Jesus as they walked with him towards Emmaus, but they didn’t. They ought to recognise him instantly, considering all the days they spent with him; but they didn’t.

Today, do we recognise him? As Christians, we ought to know him, but most of us failed to do so. He is always with us, even during these troubled times. But still, we often failed to recognise him. What has kept us from recognising him today?

Why? What?

It is probably because we do not expect him to walk beside us, just like the disciples.

When the Lord God came to the garden of Eden and called Adam, “Where are you?”, Adam and Eve were hiding (Gen. 3). Are we still doing that today? In our own gardens of Eden?

Let us open our hearts today. Let us welcome him into our hearts. Let us recognise him wherever we are and in whatever we do.
