God our fortress

Ps. 46

The world has drastically changed since December 2019. Many parts of the world had been either under lockdown or under restrictions because of the pandemic. Many Christians and other religious-minded people had to reconcile their beliefs to what is happening. Some do not understand it, and some are in dismay.

As the pandemic seems to have passed, we are faced with even more dangerous and comlicated matters everyday – wars in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and so on; racial and immigration issues here; identity crises there… It now seems as if earth houses a population who are angry or dissatified with everything.

But the Bible is very clear. Even though we may walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we shall not fear any evil because the LORD is always there to protect us (Ps. 23). And because the LORD is our protector, He is also our fortress.

Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

He does not change.

Even if the mountains tremble or moved, even if the waters roar, we shall not fear. God is in our midst, we shall not fear.

“The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress” (Ps. 46:7). Let us therefore stand firm. Let us quit babbling. Let us be still.

“Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” (Ps. 46:10) says the LORD.

Trust in Him.
