But Jehu was not careful…
2 Ki. 10:29-36
What Jehu did for the LORD to remove the filth of Ahab and his progenies was absolutely commendable. He destroyed the lineage of Ahab and removed Baal worship from Israel. “But Jehu was not careful to follow the law of the Lord the God of Israel with all his heart; he did not turn from the sins of Jeroboam, which he caused Israel to commit” (2 Ki. 10:31).
How many of us are like Jehu, looking good on the outside, but hollow inside? There are many Christians who are interested in outreach programmes, sports activities, conferences and other outward activities, but do not care much about what is going on inside their hearts. Yes, they are important when it comes to such things, but we must remember that what counts is what is in our hearts – to be able to obey God’s directions in the fear of the LORD with all our hearts.
