The division of Canaan and warning for the Israelites

Num. 33:50-56

The Israelites were about to cross the Jordan, into the land of Canaan. They had already divided the land because the LORD had given them so. But before they went into Canaan, the LORD warned them, “If you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then those whom you let remain shall be as barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides; they shall trouble you in the land where you are settling” (Num. 33:55).

As we read the story of the Israelites, they did not listen to the LORD’s warnings and the inhabitants of the land became thorns for them.

As we struggle against sin today, we see many of us becoming slack. Let us remember to uproot those that stood against us so that none may rise up to prick us again.
