Stewardship

The Bible tells us that we are to protect the earth. In Genesis 1:28 God tells the man to ‘have dominion,’ which has often been wrongly interpreted to mean total dominion so that man may exploit the earth with absolute impunity. But this is wrong. We must understand that we are asked to be stewards of the earth (Gen. 2:15).

Meanwhile, we can see the absolute negligence of man to treat earth with care everywhere we go. Therefore, let us consider the following:

  1. The earth and all that is within it belongs to the Lord (Dt. 10:14; Ps. 24:1; 1 Cor. 10:26 etc).
  2. Man is just a steward, one who must look after it. It is not ours.
