The LORD, the good shepherd

Psalm 23

Sheep cannot thrive without a proper shepherd. They tend to go astray and become prey to all sorts of predators.

We are like sheep (Is. 53:6). We tend to go astray and fall into difficult traps and situations. We are often led astray by our eyes, our haughtiness and lust (Rom. 7:5; 1 Jn. 2:16; Heb. 2:1). We are also in need of a good shepherd, just like the sheep. How fortunate we are, because we have a good shepherd in the LORD (Ps. 23:1). He is the good shepherd, the shepherd who gave His life for his flock (Jn. 10:15). He knows what His flock needs (Ps. 23:1-3) and the LORD knows what we need too (Lk. 12:22-30).

Even though we may be walking through the valley of the shadow of death, we shall fear no evil because the LORD, our shepherd is here to protect us. He is still the same today.
