The coming of the son of man

Mat. 24; Mk. 13; Lk. 21

The coming of our Lord Jesus Christ can be seen in many parts of the Bible. But today, we will be looking at what our Lord said in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21.

In Matthew 24, Jesus predicted that the temple at Jerusalem would be destroyed. Indeed, it was destroyed in AD 71. Later on, He said many things about the end of times. Likewise, Mark 13 and Luke 21 also spoke of the same things – about the end of time, the beginning of the difficult times, the tribulation after the rapture and so on.

The period that we are going through today sees many of the things spoken by our Lord coming true.

• Many have now claimed to be the Christ.
• In the name of Jesus Christ, we have seen so many profane teachings and doctrines.
• We are constantly hearing of news or wars all over the world.
• Many of these wars are wars between nations and kingdoms (countries).
• There have been so many earthquakes that the ordinary person cannot keep track of them anymore. According to one data, 2021 has seen at least 6000 tremors so far.
• More and more people are dying of hunger everyday.
• Followers of Christ are now being persecuted on all fronts.

These are the signs of the beginning.

We are not listing these thing to scare us. We are simply speaking of what we are seeing today. Indeed, they are expected to come. Even the most ignorant and illiterate person could now see that the world will not last forever.

But for those who have been saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, all these things are signs that we are nearing the day of our glory. Let the LORD be praised!

Jesus said, “Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near” (Lk. 21:28).

Today, we are not supposed to sulk and bow down. For those who have been granted the citizenship of heaven, our hope is simply becoming more and more clearer. Let us straighten up, our redemption is drawing near. Our salvation is close by (Rom 13:11).

Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”

Hebrews 12:2-3 says, “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.”

Let us also look upwards (cf. Acts 7:55).
