Jude 1

Despite the fact that the letter of Jude is short, it contains significant messages. Be that as it may, today, we will take a gander at verse 1a.

Jude 1 says, “Jude, a worker of Jesus Christ and brother of James.” From here, we realize Jude is the author. But, which Jude? There are five Judes (‘Judas’ in Greek) in the New Testament – Jude of Damascus (Acts 9:11), Jude, Barsabbas (Acts 15:22), Judas Iscariot (Mat. 26:14-16), Judas, Thaddeus (Jn. 14:22) and Jude, the brother of Jesus (Mat. 13:55). As he stated, “brother of James” (the brother of Jesus Christ, Gal. 1:19) we know he is Jude, also the brother of Jesus Christ.

We tend to pride ourselves when we know some highly influential people or famous people. We want others to think about connections we have with such individuals. Yet, Jude wasn’t that way.

Yet, Jude says, “a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of Jacob.” He focused on his servanthood as opposed to his being the brother of the LORD. He merely referenced that he was the brother of James. This James, likewise stated, “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ” (Ja. 1:1).

What modesty! We have a long way to go from them. We have to take in quietude from these brothers. God raises the individuals who are modest (Prov. 29:23; 1 Pet. 5:5). Lowliness doesn’t mean being substandard. It is accommodation to the desire of God.

Let us additionally stress more on our being servants of Jesus as opposed to on our own capacities, riches or relationship with others.
