We abhor sin when we truly see the holiness and glory of God

Is. 6

The prophet Isaiah saw a vision of God and saw His glory and holiness. The Seraphs were saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory” (Is. 6:3). Then, Isaiah saw how unclean he was and lamented, “Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!” (Is. 6:5).

When someone sees the holiness and glory of the LORD, he/she always realised how unclean and unworthy he/she is. How we see ourselves depend greatly on how we perceive the LORD. When we do not think much of God, we also tend to think lightly of sin and uncleanness. Such people always fall into sin.

But those who know that the LORD is holy are always careful not to be defiled. In fact, they move away from sin and follow the path that is holy. Even when they sin, they feel hurt inside and confess their sins to the LORD.

Isaiah saw the holiness of the LORD and saw his own uncleanness. Let this become a mirror through which we look at our lives as Christians.
