What shall we render unto the LORD?

Psalm 116:12

The author of this Psalm is not known. But we know that the author is someone thankful to the LORD. Why was he thankful for? He was thankful because the LORD inclined His ears towards him (v. 2); because God delivered him from death, trouble and sorrow (v. 3, 4); because God has dealt bountifully with him (v. 7) and because God has set him free from his bonds (v. 16).

He said, “What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits towards me?”

We may not be as great as some people are, but we see God’s ever presence and guidance in our lives. As the Psalmist says,

  • The LORD listens to our prayers. He wants to know what we have to say, and inclined His ears towards us.
  • He saves us from the throes of death. Known and unknown to us, He has always been the one who had protected us.
  • Though we have sinned, he has been bountiful with us.
  • While being in sin, He gave us His only begotten Son to save us from the bondage of sin.

Do you see all that the LORD has done for you? Shouldn’t we also say, “What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits towards me?”
