Your labour is not in vain
1 Cor. 15:58
Do you feel unappreciated? Are you frustrated because you cannot do what others are doing because of your faith in the LORD? Are you weary and tired?
The Apostle Paul said, “My beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain” (1 Cor. 15:58).
Indeed, the Lord is omniscient. Nothing that we do goes unnoticed. We may not be appreciated, we may be overlooked, but the Lord sees us. Proverbs 15:3 says, “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” He is everywhere (cf. Jer. 23:23, 24; Ps. 139; Ps. 121:3).
The Lord sees both our good and evil deeds.
Paul advises us to be steadfast, never moving. He tells us to stand firm and to be diligent in our efforts for the Lord. Let us not see our efforts in the Lord as ‘the usual practice’ as we usually do these days. Instead, let us do it full of spirit with gladness.
If we do that, our efforts, even if we feel that it has all been in vain, shall never be in vain. It does not matter if men do not notice you. We are known by the Lord. Our efforts will never be in vain.
A line from Melissa Hennings in “I Still believe” goes, “The God of a trillion stars knows my name, and he has a destiny for me.” Yes, He knows my name. He knows your name.
